Cafe Landwer: Croissants, Cappuccinos & Charisma

It was a chilly morning when we arrived at Cafe Landwer on University Avenue.

Baggy eyed, under caffeinated and with photography gear in hand, we found a table nicely situated on the street-facing patio.

We were greeted with a warm welcome from the host. Then, we met Matt, the manager who we spoke to the day before about doing this impromptu photoshoot on his patio for the launch of something called “BIZ Sassy.” He welcomed the opportunity to host us at his cafe and ensured we were as comfortable as possible.

The interior of Cafe Landwer feels as though you’ve stepped into an underground yet totally hip and trendy European cafe (are we still in Toronto?). The bright interior, retro signage and vibrant colours add a whole new meaning to “Good Morning.”

The menu is inspired by the tasty flavours of Italy and the Mediterranean (my favourite!) Using only high quality and fresh ingredients, it’s no wonder my tummy was rumbling for dinner at breakfast. Everything is made in-house with a unique menu selection everyday. They serve everything from pancakes, shakshuka and salmon eggs benny for breakfast to fresh salads, ravioli, stone baked pizza and schnitzels for lunch and dinner (there goes my diet!)

It’s a unique, welcoming and approachable establishment that’s suitable for breakfast, lunch and dinner and for any occasion- work, business, personal or otherwise. Plus, their dishes and interior is without a doubt 100% instagram-worthy…Score!

We absolutely loved doing our first shoot for BIZ Sassy at Cafe Landwer and yes, we’ll be sure to come back; definitely, for the red wine stew!

Thank you to Matt, the manager, who let us occupy a prime piece of real estate (a table on the patio) for 2 hours, the servers for helping us rearrange the flowers so only the prettiest ones were in the shot, the barista who crafted a killer cappuccino, the baker who baked those melt-in-your-mouth croissants and to the entire hospitality team for such a memorable experience.

If you ever get the chance, pop by to Cafe Landwer at either at the downtown or uptown location. You will NOT be disappointed.

And no, seriously- those croissants were to die for!
